Incident Lake

INTEGRATION / SERVICENOW

ServiceNow stays the record. The incident gets run in the thread.

In most enterprises, incidents, problems and changes have to end up in ServiceNow, usually for good reasons. But the actual response happens in Slack or Teams, and someone ends up retyping the thread into a ticket after the fact. Incident Lake sits in that thread, works through the facts one question at a time, and finds and links the ServiceNow records that matter. ServiceNow remains your system of record. We are not here to replace it.

1

Run the thread

Start with “@Incident Lake go” and confirm commander and impact step by step

2

Link the records

Search related incidents, problems and changes; a person picks what gets linked

3

Sync the tasks

With admin opt-in, response tasks sync both ways with ServiceNow

Illustrative mock. Demo video coming soon.

What it does

  • Searches ServiceNow incident, problem and change records and attaches them to an incident
  • Task sync, two-way only when an admin turns it on (task creation and status transitions)
  • CMDB sync with ServiceNow, feeding the service graph and blast-radius view
  • Auto-links ServiceNow URLs pasted into the thread

What it doesn't do

  • Replace ServiceNow. It stays your system of record.
  • Write tasks to ServiceNow unless an admin has enabled two-way sync
  • Set severity or declare an incident resolved. People make those calls.
  • Page or phone your on-call engineers

Setup at a glance

  1. Connect ServiceNow

In admin settings, choose ServiceNow under integrations and add your connection details. Integration secrets are encrypted per tenant.

  2. Choose the scope

Record search and linking come first. An admin then decides whether to turn on two-way task sync and CMDB sync.

  3. Dry-run with a test incident

Open a test incident, link a record and watch a task sync. We'll walk you through the exact steps and timing during onboarding.

FAQ

Do we have to move off ServiceNow?

No. The integration assumes ServiceNow stays authoritative. Incident Lake handles the live response in chat and assembles the incident record; the ServiceNow records you already keep are linked back to it.

Will it write to ServiceNow without us knowing?

Task sync only goes two-way when an admin enables it, and even then it covers task creation and status transitions. What CMDB sync covers is confirmed with you during onboarding.

Can we tie an outage to a change request?

Yes. From an incident you can search for related change records and link them, which helps when the post-incident question is “what changed right before this?”
