Incident Lake

INTEGRATION / JIRA

Incident follow-ups that actually land in Jira

The incident wraps up, the channel goes quiet, and the "we should fix the connection pool" follow-up never becomes a ticket. Or it does, and months later nobody can tell which outage it came from. Incident Lake keeps response tasks and Jira issues tied together. With task sync enabled by an admin, it creates the issue and keeps status in step. Without it, Jira URLs dropped into the incident are still linked automatically.

1

Follow-up agreed

e.g. "Revisit DB pool limits" logged as an incident task

2

Synced to Jira

If an admin has enabled sync: issue created, status transitions kept in step

3

People own it

Humans decide what becomes a task; the issue-to-incident link stays on record

Illustrative mock. Demo video coming soon.

What it does

  • Creates Jira issues from incident tasks (once an admin enables sync)
  • Keeps status transitions in sync between Incident Lake and Jira (same condition)
  • Auto-links Jira URLs posted in the thread or the incident
  • Leaves a traceable path from every issue back to the incident that spawned it

What it does not do

  • Write to Jira before an admin turns sync on
  • Touch workflows, project settings, or anything beyond issue creation and status transitions
  • Decide what deserves a ticket
  • Set severity or close incidents on its own

Setup at a glance

  1. Connect Jira

Add connection details under integration settings. Secrets are encrypted per tenant.

  2. Decide on sync

Task sync stays off until an admin enables it. You can run with URL auto-linking alone.

  3. Run a test task

Create a test task and check that the issue appears and its status follows. We share detailed steps during onboarding.

FAQ

Can Incident Lake write to Jira without us knowing?

No. The only writes are issue creation and status transitions, and only after an admin enables task sync. Monitoring, code and docs integrations stay read-only.

We track work in Backlog or ServiceNow. Does this still apply?

Yes. Task sync works the same way with Backlog and ServiceNow. On ServiceNow you can also search and link incident, problem and change request records.

Will it page our on-call?

No. Paging isn't what Incident Lake is built for, so keep your paging tool. If you're moving off Opsgenie, the comparison below maps out who does what.
