SECURITY INCIDENT RESPONSE
Turn your engineers' working log into the report legal, comms and leadership need.
During a security incident, engineers work in Slack and the write-up waits until later. Incident Lake captures the thread and the actions on a timestamped timeline as they happen, keeps detection, containment, regulator notification and customer notification on a checklist so nothing is missed, and drafts the report each audience needs from that record.
- Automatic timeline
- Slack thread capture
- SOP checklists
- Stakeholder updates
- Report drafts
Post-incident reports are hard to write not because nobody has the time, but because nobody kept notes during the response. Incident Lake takes the note-taking off your engineers. People make the calls; the agent keeps the record and does the writing.
The record keeps itself
Automatic timeline
Detection, the commander's calls, severity changes, containment steps, recovery checks. Everything that happens during the incident lands on one timestamped timeline, so no one has to reconstruct who decided what, and when.
Slack thread capture
The agent joins the Slack or Teams thread your team is already using and pulls messages, decisions and shared links into the incident record. Engineers keep working in the thread as usual; the record builds itself.
Stakeholder updates
Scope, current phase and next steps are summarized from the timeline, so legal, comms, leadership and customer success hear the same story at the same time, without pulling engineers off the incident.
SOP checklists, so nothing slips
Your security incident procedure is split into four phases and attached to the incident as checklists. Each completed item records who did it and when, which becomes evidence for the report.
First response
Name a commander, set severity, confirm initial scope and start preserving evidence. Every responder runs the same checks in the same order.
Containment
Disabled accounts, blocked traffic, isolated hosts: each action is logged with a timestamp and the reason behind it.
Regulator notification
Log when you became aware and the deadlines appear on the incident: 72 hours to the supervisory authority under GDPR, and the preliminary and final reports under Japan's APPI. Whether to notify is always a human call.
Customer notification
Track who gets notified, what they are told and when it was sent, including data subjects when GDPR requires it. Line up the wording with comms and customer success before anything goes out.
One record, a report for every audience
From the timeline, the thread and the checklists, Incident Lake drafts a report tailored to each reader. Engineers do not start from a blank page. A person reviews and sends the final version.
For legal and privacy
What happened and when you became aware, which personal data was involved, and where each regulator notification stands under GDPR, APPI and the other rules you track, laid out in order.
For communications
Affected customers and services, current status and the remediation plan. A starting point for public statements and customer notices.
For leadership
Business impact, the key points of the response and the decisions that need an owner, in plain language and kept short.
